With Kindergarten starting in just a few months, it's time to access resources to support transitions and keep your child learning throughout the summer. Broward County Public Schools created a website specially designed for parents of incoming kindergarten children. Kindergarten Read Alouds

Reading books to children with characters and plots supporting kindergarten transition is a GREAT way to expose children to their upcoming transition. It also helps them to relate to characters going through the some of their same fears and anxiety, especially when the characters in the story are able to overcome those fears in positive ways. If mice, raccoons, cats, and young children just like them have an awesome first day kindergarten experience, then they can too! There are many amazing books with kindergarten transition themes. welocme Successful transition to kindergarten requires more than ensuring that children have the necessary academic and social skills. Smooth transitions from preschool to kindergarten depend on connections made between participants in the process, such as those between schools and families, and between preschool and kindergarten teachers and classrooms, especially connections made prior to kindergarten entry.

What Will Children Learn in Kindergarten?

The Florida Standards outline the essential skills and concepts which students will be expected to master in language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, social emotional learning, physical education, fine arts education, and technology. The rate at which these skills are mastered will vary from student to student, depending upon individual development and learning styles. Although skills and concepts are listed in separate subject areas, they are not taught in isolation but instead are integrated throughout the curriculum using a wide variety of methods and technologies. Many concepts and skills are reinforced and expanded from one grade level to the next. myOn features over 6,000 books and articles in a digital library. Sign on with School: Read On Broward, Username: myon, Password: read.
Epic instantly access 40,000 popular titles in a digital library, along with learning videos and quizzes. Families must register and sign up for a free trial.
KidLit TV has video read alouds by the authors who wrote the books, video interviews, and online resources.

Here you will find Clifford, Word Girl, Daniel Tiger and more, all ready to play and learn!	STARFALL includes language arts and mathematics for preschool, kindergarten, first grade, second grade, and third grade. Starfall’s emphasis on phonemic awareness, systematic sequential phonics, and common sight words in conjunction with audiovisual interactivity has proven effective in teaching emergent readers.
ABC MOUSE The Step-by-Step Learning Path presents the full ABCmouse.com curriculum in a carefully designed program of more than 850 lessons in ten levels.
