Welcome to the Broward Youth Climate Summit 2024!

The theme for this year is Forecasting the Future

Forecasting the Future 2024 YCS logo To attend the February 9th in-person summit, students should

1) Know the difference between climate versus weather. There is a module in this Canvas course for that purpose. It is not mandatory for your students to complete all of the pages on the Climate vs. Weather module but it will provide the necessary background for them for a fully enriched summit experience.

2) Forecast the Future of green technology by researching an existing green technology, then developing a new green tech or improving the existing green tech to solve environmental challenges of the future. and bringing a poster of their findings to the summit. See this poster requirements for details.

Climate vs. Weather

This is a basic introduction to climate vs. weather for all grades. Students will learn the definitions of weather and climate, and they will learn to distinguish the differences and similarities of weather, climate, climate change, and global warming.

Your students will begin with a Climate vs. Weather pretest. After the pretest, use the provided resources that will give your students foundational understanding on the concepts on climate vs. weather as well as climate change vs. global warming. Students will finish the module by completing the Climate vs. Weather post test. This is the same module from last year's summit.

Summit Event

This module will include information on the summit itself - agenda, bios, etc. It will be updated as we get closer to the event.

Environmentally-related challenges and contests that your students can apply.

Resources

There are varied resources in this course for your students on the environment, climate, weather, climate justice, and other climate related links.
