πŸŽ“ Cap and Gown Information

Be sure you read the entire Senior Events Document completely for all of the details on all senior events.  (linked here)

You must have a cap and gown from Herff Jones to participate in our graduation ceremony.  

Login to

Register for an account, you will find the "Start Registering" tab on the right-hand side of their website.  Select Stoneman Douglas High School and create a password.

Once you have created your account you will be able to place your order.

Cap and gown pick-up and graduation ticket distribution will be on June 2nd and June 3rd.  Students will also be returning all school property during their scheduled time slot. Please see the chart below for your scheduled time. Students must come during their scheduled time slot.

Important Considerations:

  • Students must have their student ID or photo ID.
  • Students must turn in all textbooks and laptops
  • Students may have paid any obligations that they have, please check Virtual Counselor for any outstanding obligations.
  • Students must have their Graduation Decorum Letter signed with parent acknowledgment. Bring this with you when you come during your scheduled cap & gown and graduation ticket distribution (linked here).
  • Check virtual counselor to identify any outstanding obligations and go to the online payment portal to clear your obligations prior to cap and gown pick-up.β€―
  • Please ensure you are wearing a face mask during pick-up while you are interacting with staff
  • If you cannot pick up your cap and gown during your scheduled time slot you can complete an Alternative Cap and Gown Arrangement form (linked here) to arrange for someone to pick up your cap and gown however only the graduate can pick up graduation tickets.
  • If you cannot pick-up your cap, gown or tickets on the day and time assigned, you may come to the front office on Friday, June 4 from 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM and on Monday, June 7 from 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM for your graduation items.

Graduation Cords and Medallions will be picked up with your cap & gown and graduation tickets.  Please see the cap & gown and graduation ticket schedule below.

Highest Honors Grad (top 2%): White Cord
High Honors Grad (top 5%): Maroon Cord
Honors Grad - Gold Cord: 3.75 weighted GPA
Silver Cord: 250 volunteer service hours

Biliteracy Medals:

Gold β€“ Students need to meet ONE of the following criteria.

  • 4 credits in the SAME Foreign Language (FL) AND 3.00 or higher unweighted gpa in those FL courses AND a level 4 or higher on FSA ELA 10th grade
  • 700 or higher on SAT FL Subject test
  • CLEP test score (63 or higher on Spanish FL test, 59 or higher on French, 60 or higher on German)
  • 4 or higher on AP FL test
  • 4 or higher on AICE FL test (B)

Silver β€“ Students need to meet ONE of the following criteria.
